PRIVACY
A data-minimising way to find a dog park
Dogs Social is built around a simple rule: no field is collected unless a feature actively uses it. This policy explains what the web app and marketing site handle.
Anonymous use
The core experience works without an account. Anonymous use is linked to a random device_id stored in your browser's localStorage so Dogs Social can connect your dog and check-ins to the same device. This identifier is not a cookie and is not a fingerprint. No tracking cookies or advertising identifiers are used.
Feedback
When you send feedback to Dogs Social, we store only your message, a category, an optional email address, your language and the time. We store no device ID, account link, IP address or user agent, so a feedback message cannot be tied to your check-ins. The email address is optional and used only to reply. There is no automatic deletion yet; you can request erasure through the privacy contact.
What an account adds
If you choose an account, Dogs Social handles your email address, your dog's name, age group, size, social style, sex, optional bio and photo, and check-in records. The service does not collect a real name, phone number or address for this profile. Photo upload and saving a bio require an account; stored photos are protected so only their owner can modify them.
Location
Location is requested only when you tap the locate-me control. It is used to centre the map for that moment and is not stored on the server. You can use the map without granting location access.
What is public
Check-ins and dog profiles are visible to other users of the app. They can see the dog information you provide and whether the dog is checked in now or expected later. They do not see your human identity or a stored location. Do not add information to a public dog profile that you want to keep private.
Services we use
Supabase provides the database, authentication and photo storage. Mapbox provides map tiles. Google Places supplies park photos inside the app. Cloudflare hosts this marketing site and provides its cookieless aggregate analytics; Vercel hosts the app at app.dogs.social. Resend sends transactional email. These services receive only the information needed for their role.
Analytics and legal basis
Cloudflare Web Analytics on this marketing site is aggregate and cookieless; it stores nothing in your browser, creates no personal profile and does not track you across sites. Dogs Social relies on legitimate interest for operating the core service and consent for optional account data. No advertising or cross-site tracking is part of the site.
Retention
Check-ins are kept only as long as the product needs them to show current and recent park activity. The exact retention period has not yet been confirmed. Other account data is retained while the account is active or until an erasure request is completed.
Your rights
Under applicable data-protection law you can ask for access, rectification, erasure, portability or restriction, and you can object where the legal basis allows it. Erasure
Server-side account erasure removes the account, profile, dogs, check-ins and stored photos. There is currently no in-app deletion button, so send an erasure request to the privacy contact. The service is not directed at children under 16.
Email updates
If you sign up for updates, we keep your email address, your language, which form you signed up through and the time. The legal basis is your consent. That address is used only to write to you about Dogs Social and is passed to nobody else. Every message carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately; you can also unsubscribe through the privacy contact. This list is separate from feedback: an address you leave with an idea is used only to reply.
